North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE)
The examination is administered by a commercial testing service with facilities for computer testing. The examination is owned solely by the International Council for Veterinary Assessment (ICVA).
The NAVLE testing window for fall is mid-November through mid-December; the test window for spring is the first two weeks of April. All eligible applicants interested in applying for the next offering of the NAVLE must apply and pay the ICVA, by the ICVA deadline(s); August 1st or February 1st.
* All NAVLE candidates must declare a state or provincial licensing board when applying for the NAVLE examination.
If KANSAS is your designated licensing board, you will need to apply for Kansas licensure by submitting an application to the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners (KBVE).
NAVLE exam applicants must be in the senior year of, or be a graduate of an accredited school of veterinary medicine, or; be enrolled in the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification program. * If enrolled in the ECFVG program, we require proof that you have completed Step 3.

KBVE license application deadline(s) for NAVLE approval are July 27th or January 27th.
Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE)
The examination is owned and administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) . All applicants interested in applying for the next offering of the VTNE must apply directly to AAVSB.
If you are interested in obtaining registration as a veterinary technician in Kansas, please submit an application to the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners-KBVE.
Jurisprudence Exam
Jurisprudence exams are administered by appointment.
Once a year, usually in April, the jurisprudence exam is offered on the campus of KSU in Manhattan.
Applicants may write or call to make an appointment to take the jurisprudence exam, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Board office in Wamego. The exam takes one and one-half to two hours to complete.
