If you have a complaint about veterinary services you received from a licensee under the jurisdiction of this Agency, the Board may be able to assist you.
Contact the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners:
PO Box 379Wamego, Kansas 66547-0379
Telephone: (785) 456-8781
Download the complaint form, or Submit the complaint in writing and include:
- your name
- address
- home and work phone numbers
- dates
- name(s) of veterinarian(s) involved
- treatment performed and a description of the complaint;
- written report(s) from second veterinary opinions (if available) which substantiate the complaint.
Upon receipt of a written complaint, the KBVE will acknowledge receipt and assign an investigator.
All allegations/complaints are processed. If an investigation indicates that a violation of the Kansas Practice Act possibly exists, the case is presented for probable cause determination by Board members. If Board members determine that the evidence obtained from the investigation did provide probable cause to believe a violation may have occurred, results are presented to the Board for disciplinary action. A penalty ranging from a reprimand to license revocation may be imposed.
After the board has taken action, the complainant is notified of the final disposition of the complaint.
If, following investigation, there is no evidence to support a violation, the complainant is so advised by the Board staff.
As a regulatory agency, our primary disciplinary tools are sanctions against the veterinarian’s license. Recovery of damages is beyond the scope of the Board’s authority and complainants may seek relief through civil proceedings separate from the Board’s action.
